Retail however doesn’t use skill levels to decide whether or not you are successful. It only determines the number of herbs that you pick. You don’t get experience from herbs in WoW TBC either, whereas Retail does actually give you a little experience. This change was introduced during the Cataclysm era.

What Profession Should I Use?
