I’m someone who usually knows when they’re beaten. Whatever I’ve been involved with in my life, if at one point during proceedings, I realized that I wasn’t going to overcome something, I would call it a day. That was me and acne just over a year ago until a crucial moment in time when I discovered benzoyl peroxide face cleanser, almost by accident.
Before that point, you could say I’d done it all. Salicylic acid products, topical retinoids and more were tried – leading to little or no change. I’m not sure exactly what caused me to avoid using one of the most commonly and successfully used acne products on the market for so long, but I did.
Benzoyl Peroxide Face Cleanser is the Bomb!
One of the key factors this time around was that I took the time to go looking for solutions. I even asked at my local drugstore, and while they did mention benzoyl peroxide as a solution, they kinda advised me to stay away from the product if I didn’t have really bad acne.
At the time, I didn’t realize that this was bad advice, but after around an hour of researching online, I discovered that benzoyl peroxide face cleanser WAS suitable for me, after all. Suitable for mild to moderate acne is what it said, and that sounded a little more like my set of circumstances.
Trial & Error Found My Level
Thankfully, I also read the instructions on how to use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser before jumping in and slapping it on each day. It told me to be super-cautious until I was sure it wasn’t going to irritate my skin, so I carried out a patch test and left it for a day or two.
While there was some tingling and a little dryness after using a 2.5% product (one of the least concentrated on the market), I found that it was giving me that lovely clean feeling without causing any undue discomfort or irritation.
Just a Few Weeks Later, I Was Amazed!
Again, because I’d read up on what I should expect prior to using my BP cleanser, I knew that you shouldn’t expect instant results. To be fair, my skin did feel better after the first 1 or 2 daily applications, but I didn’t get carried away or impatient about seeing improvements.
Slowly but surely, I saw a gradual but steady improvement in my complexion. I went from having 15-20 spots in my first week to around 12 in the second and then 4-5 in the third. By weeks 4, 5 & 6, I was seeing a different me in the mirror. You could say I was astonished!
I Wouldn’t Swap My Benzoyl Peroxide Face Cleanser For Anything!
Having pretty much given up, I’m the perfect example of why you should never give up trying to get yourself a clear complexion. You should have heard of benzoyl peroxide if you’ve done any research into the subject of acne, so don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t at least consider it.
The fact is, if you approach it methodically – as I did – there’s only a small chance of an adverse reaction, especially if you choose to engage in patch testing beforehand.
I now wouldn’t swap my BP face cleanser for anything, as it’s keeping my acne at bay with ease, and I don’t ever want to go back to suffering from pimples again. Of course, a zit or two may still pop up from time to time, even when you’re using BP, but it’s never around for long.
Do yourself a favor and look into it. It’s possibly the best thing available, and you might just be missing out.
