The Health Workforce Management Program (HWMP) helps governments improve overall management of their healthcare workforce. The program strengthens key functions such as strategic planning, deployment, and in-service training. It also encourages better use of resources by promoting health worker retention and development. To date, the HPMP has graduated more than 1,500 nurses and physicians. The HPMP has produced more than 30 publications, and is the leading research institute for health workforce planning.
Health workforce
There are many stakeholders involved in managing the health workforce, including the government, the private sector, and other stakeholders. For example, the health workforce must work across 6 equity domains to achieve equity and access. The state of the health workforce is critical to advancing health equity, and ongoing tracking is necessary to assess the impact of policies and practices. It is important to understand what is happening within the health workforce so it can effectively promote health equity. The report focuses on six priority areas.
Improve health equity and access
The National Center for Health Workforce Analysis (NCWHA) collects data on the health workforce in the U.S., and aims to improve health equity and access to high-quality care. The National Practitioner Data Bank allows registered health care entities to search reports on medical malpractice, adverse actions, and judgments and convictions against health care practitioners and providers. The research findings are crucial for improving the quality of care and reducing the incidence of health disparities.
