6 tips and tricks for staying positive

    JamesBy JamesSeptember 14, 2021No Comments4 Mins Read

Even though we’re moving out of the pandemic, and with the help of rapid antigen tests like the Healgen Antigen test we can finally go out and socialise, it can still feel difficult to stay positive. The past 18 months have been tough, and as we head into the winter months, shorter days and darker evenings can make everything seem a little bit gloomier.

Staying positive can be difficult, but there are ways you can maintain a positive outlook on life. We’ve done some research and found a few tips and tricks for keeping a positive mental attitude as we head into winter.

    Practice gratitude

Practising gratitude is a really easy way to remind yourself of all the good things in life. Keeping a gratitude journal, listing all of the things you are grateful for, and practising this daily can help you to remain positive.

Try writing a list of all the good things that happened to you at the end of each day and see how much you start to appreciate the small things in life.

    Laughter is the best medicine

It is true that laughter is the best medicine, and laughing daily can help to relieve anxiety, stress, and help you to learn to cope. Watching comedy shows, laughing with friends, and even heading to a comedy club can help.

Remember to stay safe if you do head out to see some live comedy, using a Healgen Covid test weekly to stay informed and stop the spread of COVID-19.

    Start the day well

There is a whole range of things you can do to start your day off right. As previously mentioned, practising gratitude can help to remind you of all the good things in life. Listing the things you’re grateful for when you get up can help to remind you to stay positive.

Other great ways to start the day include listing all the things you’re looking forward to that day, listening to your favourite music (and maybe even dancing to it), practising a quick yoga routine, and getting out into the fresh air.

Eating well is also a recommended way to support good mental health. Eating a well-balanced and nutrient-filled diet can help you maintain good physical and mental health. Remember to eat a good and nutritious breakfast to start your day off well.

    Exercise is key

Getting enough exercise is also a helpful way to support good mental health. Exercise releases endorphins, dopamine, and adrenaline which are all chemical compounds in the brain that make you feel happier, more confident, and contribute to an overall good mood.

Try finding an exercise you really enjoy. It may not be a long and arduous run or a tiring gym class, but remember that simply dancing in your kitchen gets your heart rate up, and can count as exercise.

    Meditation

Moments of peace are key to a positive outlook. Meditation is getting more and more popular as people look for quiet in this busy and chaotic world. There are several apps that can guide you through meditation exercises, and even YouTube has some options. Find a meditation programme that suits you and settle in for a moment of mindfulness.

    Getting outside

During lockdown, we all learned just how much better you can feel by simply taking a walk. Getting out into the fresh air and soaking up nature can help you to feel refreshed and at peace. Try taking a short walk in the evenings after dinner or find local longer routes and make a day of it.

Remember to stay safe when getting back out and maintain distance to stop the spread of COVID-19. Staying positive doesn’t have to be difficult if you practice a few of these tips each day. If you are feeling down and these small changes aren’t helpful, you can always reach out and seek professional advice to ensure you’re getting what you need.
