Bone Thugs-n-Harmony is a hip-hop group that hit the stage in 1993 and is one of today’s most authentic and greatest rap groups.
This legendary group of people had the luck to become friends with Eazy-E, who also was their mentor and helped them sign their first more significant record deal. Every group in any musical genre has its ups and downs, and the same goes for Bone Thugs since they had some prosaic studio albums along the way, but they managed to stay at the top of the game.
Bone Thugs-n-Harmony consider themselves tough guys who create lyrics and music that cover both violence and crime. Still, as a listener, remember that this is all part of the hip-hop game, and don’t get the wrong ideas in your head.
Nevertheless, they have several great studio albums, and a Bone Thugs concert is the perfect place to listen to tracks from their best albums and If you want to experience the full power of this group, make sure to see the schedule of their hip hop concerts and get your tickets before they run out.
Therefore, let’s see the four best Bone Thugs studio albums.
E. 1999 Eternal
This album is the second Bone Thugs studio album that allowed them to make a proper Bone Thugs n Harmony tour since it sold more than 4 million units only in the United States. Unfortunately, it was released in 1995, four months after the death of Eazy-E, who was also the executive producer.
Because of this, the album and one of its best songs, Tha Crossroads, are dedicated to Eazy-E. E. 1999 Eternal became a massive hit thanks to the single Thuggish Ruggish Bone and got positive reviews from music critics.
It sold 307,000 units in the first week of release and is their best-selling studio album. It was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Album and topped the US Billboard 200 for 2 consecutive weeks.
The Art of War
The Art of War is their third studio album which was released back in 1997. It sold an incredible 394,000 copies in its first week of release, and it’s the first Bone Thugs-n-Harmony double album.
The selling of Bone Thugs n Harmony tickets increased even more after this successful album, and it ultimately sold 4 million copies in the USA. DJ U-Neek produces the entire studio album, and it has a gold single If I Could Teach the World and a platinum-single Look into My Eyes.
Even though there was a rumor that this album’s name would be DNA Level C, which is Cleveland spelled backward, instead, it was named The Art of War as a response to rappers deemed copycats by Bone Thugs. These rappers are Three 6 Mafia, Twista & The Speedknots, Do or Die, and Crucial Conflict.
BTNHResurrection
This is the fourth studio album, which was released on Ruthless in 2000. The fascinating thing about BTNHResurrection is that it reached platinum status within a month, but after this success, its sales declined.
Another interesting fact is that Flesh-n-Bone was heavily featured on BTNHResurrection, appearing in 14 out of 15 songs. He wasn’t featured only on the bonus track of this album. It’s interesting since this was rarely seen on previous studio albums because he wasn’t signed to Ruthless Records with the rest of the Bone Thugs members.
Furthermore, this was Flesh’s last appearance on a Bone Thugs album for ten years since he was convicted in June 2000 for assault with a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon. Pleading guilty, Flesh-n-Bone was sentenced to eleven years in jail. He was released in 2008 and reappeared on the 2010 Bone Thugs album, Uni5: The World’s Enemy.
This album sold 50,000 units in Canada and 1 million in the United States, peaking at number one on Billboard’s US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and number two on US Billboard 200.
Strength & Loyalty
The fourth album on this list is Strength & Loyalty, whose original name was The Bone Thugs Story. It’s their seventh studio album, and it was released in 2007 as the first major album after an absence of almost 5 years.
Many guests are on this album, like Akon, Mariah Carey, The Game, Yolanda Adams, etc. There are also several producers; DJ Toomp, Akon, Street Radio, The Individuals, and so on. The executive producer was Swizz Beatz, and Bizzy Bone wasn’t featured in it. As we already mentioned, Flesh was in prison at the time, so he was featured on only one song titled Into The Future, which did not make the album cover.
This album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and peaked at number two on US Billboard 200 and US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. In New Zealand, where this band has a solid fan base, it peaked at number 28 on New Zealand Albums. Strength & Loyalty was certified gold by the RIAA since it sold 500,000 copies in the USA.
