Advancing on the legacy of a modern icon, the latest version of the Nissan Xterra is a continuation of the manufacturer’s excellence. This SUV retains the actual essence of the previous models while also improving in all aspects.
The off-road staple has been reviewed by CarSwitch which is the only place you need to check used cars for sale in Dubai. It first launched in 2015 but the new version is highly refined.
The visuals of the vehicle
The successor of Nissan’s vehicle is a modernized legend. At the first glance, the latest car steals attention. It’s style details and funky signature are highly striking. The appearance is buff and masculine throughout the body including the rear quarter, arches and hood. This is a refresh of the visuals which has gained admiration from the customers.
The fascia is actually inspired by the rough and tough Pathfinder. However, the SUV adds a lively stance with a sharp bumper that incorporates heavy chrome panels at the grille design. It also features a significant silver bumper guard and fog lamp housings which continue to the vents by the radiator intake.
Some of the other highlights in the exterior consists of signature LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and 18 inches alloy wheels. If you are willing to taste real off-road adventures, you can add heavy-duty off-road tires because the wheel wells are big enough to support them.
As for the rear of the SUV, a busy bumper, LED lights and thick chrome accents allow it to appear posh.
What’s on the inside?
All the great dimensions and designing of the outside complements the interior of the vehicle. Just like the other parts, the interior has been given an upgrade. There is no longer a cabin made of plastic because it is replaced with leatherette.
It has raised the bar for the competitors due to the addition of high tech features and soft upscale plastic. Lots of goodies can be found inside. For example, the conventional CD player has been replaced by a 9-inch multifunctional touchscreen which is operated with a revised version of the ‘NissanConnect’ operating system.
It looks completely distinct from their predecessor’s utilitarian style cues. Some of the biggest highlights of the interior are three extensive rows of seats with enough headroom and legroom make it an authentic family SUV.
A total of 7 people can be seated but the last row is better suited for the children. The seating position is similar to the other vehicles in the segment. When it comes to entertainment, an 11 inches television and 8 speaker premium Bose sound system are offered.
Performance and power
Underneath the hood, the SUV comes with a 2.5 liter engine which delivers 165 hp and 241 Nm. This downsized engine is excellent at fuel economy and is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The power delivery is sufficient which makes it a talented highway cruiser.
It takes 9 seconds to achieve 100 kph. Even at high speed, the engine remains calm due to the lower noise-vibration harshness (NVH) levels of the interior. It behaves professionally on the road and offers outstanding ride quality. The suspension is highly capable of absorbing all bumps and hurdles on the roads.
It’s real talent is visible when the vehicle is taken to off-road tracks filled with dirt and rocks. The best off-road abilities are guaranteed with an electronically locking rear differential, an active 4×4 system, a brake dependent limited slip differential, hill descent control and hill start assist.
It plows through the tricky terrain with precision and speed. Especially the electronically locking differential is more talented at managing risky circumstances than other Asian cars. It offers a ground clearance of 243mm and a wheelbase of 2850mm.
Safety is guaranteed as well with vehicle dynamic control, airbags, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, ABS, Intelligent Emergency Braking, lane departure warning, brake assist, blind spot warning, intelligent around-view monitor, rear cross traffic alert and an intelligent rearview monitor.
Our verdict
The new Nissan Xterra hits all the right notes and makes sure that it stands unique from all the other modern SUVs. However, the best part is that it still upholds the natural character and essence of an off-roader.
